چکیده

The Green revolution era has been the golden period for boosting food production specifically in South-Asia, but signs of fatigue late 1980s with a sharp decline factor productivity, stagnation crop yields dwindling and marginal farm incomes pose serious threat to security, agricultural sustainability, soil environmental health. In nutshell, growing concerns related health, productivity nutrient-use efficiency (NUE) are compelling farmers use higher amounts chemical fertilizers during last two decades. low NUE associated pollution as well global warming problems have increased apprehension about existing nutrient management practices. As such, it is high time develop site-specific (SSNM) technologies that able balance dynamics. SSNM need-based feeding crops nutrients while acknowledging inherent spatial variability, which enhances profitability, avoids loss. For efficient effective SSNM, plant status sensing devices, decision support systems, simulation models, machines varying applications plays major role. This paper deals tools potential enhance NUE, profitability sustainability.

Maize productivity and nutrient use efficiency in Western Kenya as affected by soil type and crop management

Low soil fertility and high weed infestation are the main culprits for the declining maize production inWestern Kenya. Technology packages to address these constraints exist, but their effectiveness is likely to be influenced by variability in soil types and farm management practices in the region. Trials were conducted during the 2008/2009 cropping seasons to investigate the nutrient use e...

Nutrient Use Efficiency in Plants

Invariably, many agricultural soils of the world are deficient in one or more of the essential nutrients needed to support healthy plants. Acidity, alkalinity, salinity, anthropogenic processes, nature of farming, and erosion can lead to soil degradation. Additions of fertilizers and/or amendments are essential for a proper nutrient supply and maximum yields. Estimates of overall efficiency of ...

Enhanced plant nutrient use efficiency with PGPR and AMF in an integrated nutrient management system.

A 3 year field study was conducted with field corn from 2005 to 2007 to test the hypothesis that microbial inoculants that increase plant growth and yield can enhance nutrient uptake, and thereby remove more nutrients, especially N, P, and K from the field as part of an integrated nutrient management system. The field trial evaluated microbial inoculants, which include a commercially available ...
